Supporting the Foundation by Dr. Steve Joel

We are very fortunate in LPS to have a Foundation that shares in our mission and intent.   With more than 42,000 students enrolled that represent close to 50% eligible for free and reduced lunches (poverty factors), our ability to meet the needs of all of our students is beyond our resource capacity.   Whether the need is for a family in crisis or a teacher that is seeking a teaching tool or activity (Fund a Need), the Foundation seeks ways to support.  Whenever I am presented with a request for help and assistance my first call is to our Foundation.

The Foundation has also been there for us when we needed big ticket supports such as equipment for The Career Academy.  The Foundation's ability to engage the community on our behalf is a major reason why we are able to do so much more than just what happens in the classroom.   But, their work doesn't come without cost and that is where we come in as supporters of their work so that they can do more for our students.   It is why my wife and I prioritize giving to the Foundation---because we know that the funds will be utilized so that the disadvantaged will become advantaged.  Please, thoughtfully, consider a gift to the Foundation for Lincoln Public Schools today.

With gratitude,

Steve Joel, Superintendent
