Megan Danner

Cavett Elementary
Art Teacher
Nominated By: Principal Kathleen Dering

Megan Danner's impact in our building is evident the minute you enter our building: the artwork of all students, grades K-5, is prominently displayed throughout the building. Megan continually replaces the artwork with new projects throughout the year. For the past few years, she has taken the first few weeks of art class to have students create a collaborative project. This project is displayed for an entire school year in our multi-purpose room. Students are so excited and proud to find their individual contribution to this collaborative project-you can hear conversations about the artwork throughout the year. This artwork also provides a student-created backdrop for all assemblies and performances that take part in our multi-purpose room. Megan has a positive and creative approach to her teaching. She is constantly seeking ways to help students connect with the world around them through art.

Three summers ago, Megan spent time creating and painting a large mural for our entryway. For inspiration, she contacted past and present Cavett staff and families to ask for their memories of Cavett, then incorporated those ideas into her own artistic vision for the mural. As a result of this research and care, every aspect of the mural has special meaning and significance for our Cavett Community.

Megan has been a committed part of our school community through her work with Heritage/Culture Night, family art events, helping at Fun Night, volunteering to organize Field Day, and assisting with the annual LPS art show. She is a respected and valued member of our specialists team and our school staff. Anyone who has spent time with Megan knows she has a positive attitude, a kind spirit, and a natural sense of humor.
