Krista Couton

Robinson Elementary
Vocal Music Teacher
Nominated By: Principal Jeff Vercellino

If you watch Krista teach, you must stop and realize that she is still considered early in her career. But she does not deliver instruction like a someone who has been teaching a short number of years. Krista's ability to structure a lesson and deliver that instruction is impeccable. I am in awe each time I watch her teach. Krista is a pragmatic leader. She comes into a situation and has a focused drive in completing the necessary task.

Krista deserves to be the Inspire Award for many reasons. For starters, she really strives to be the best for her students every day. She helps meet each one where they are at, collaborate with all stakeholders, and takes each student to the next level. She expects growth and wants the best for each student who walks through our doors. She also does reading outside of school on how to best support our students, puts on amazing school concerts, and is a kind heart to all students and staff. She is an example of how we, as teachers, should be a leader but guide those around us with a gentle heart.

And her work with our raptor musicians goes without saying. The concerts are wonderfully attended by family and friends who come to see their young musicians perform. Krista raises the level of expectations and holds students to those expectations, making accommodations as needed.

Krista is a leader who initiates and moves those initiatives forward. Krista is personable and shows care for scholars and staff!
