Megan Lytle

Helen Krieger Outstanding Healthcare Provider Award

About the Award: This award recognizes a health care provider who has made a significant contribution to the lives of students and families by providing excellence in healthcare and healthcare education.

Awarded Amount: $1,000

Nominated By: Sara Stoner, Co-Worker

Nomination: Today I am writing to tell you about a fellow school nurse and the impact she has made among many. I have had the pleasure of working with Megan for the last 4 years. What I have learned the most and admire the most about Megan is her genuine compassion for every single individual that she encounters. Her compassion can be witnessed through her care of patients she has worked with through Clinic with a Heart, when answering endless questions for a coworker (I know from experience), her excellent care of the students and student families at Huntington Elementary, a stranger looking for guidance and most importantly her family.

Megan is incredibly intentional with her conversations. She is always looking for ways to "be better" and encourages those around her to do the same. She is an advocate, not only for school nursing but for equity among all of those that she cares for. She currently serves as a team leader and is an amazing resource to many (not only those on her team).

But her resume goes beyond LPS. Megan was nominated and received the 2020 Excellence in School Nursing (SchoolNurse of the Year) Award through Nebraska School Nursing Association (NSNA). She is the current Technology and Communications "whiz" for NSNA allowing her to reach out to hundreds of school nurses across the state. She is actively working on a presentation "The Role of the School Nurse inIncreasing Instructional Time Using Multi-Tiered Systems ofSupport" that she will be co-presenting in person at the 2021National School Nursing Conference, among hundreds of fellow school nurses from across the country. Megan is a co-author of an article, on the above subject, published in the NASN School Nurse Volume 35 Issue 5, September 2020. Megan is a true Heart Led Leader.
