About
Los Mariachis de la Ciudad Estrella is an LPS All-City Mariachi sponsored by Lincoln Public Schools (LPS) and the LPS Music Department. Los Mariachis de la Ciudad Estrella has been around since the 2018-2019 school year. Being an All-City Mariachi we are open to all 7th-12th grade students in LPS. While Los Mariachis is an All-City Mariachi, we meet at Lincoln High School on Thursdays during the school year from 4 to 6pm.
Our funding is sponsored by LPS Music and community donors through the Foundation for Lincoln Public Schools. Donations are used in many ways: music, instruments, instrument repairs, uniforms (T-shirts and Trajes), drycleaning (at the end of each school year), travel, strings, etc. We try our best to be good stewards of tax money and public donations by buying items that will last us many years and can be used by multiple students throughout the years (instruments, trajes). Every year all of the uniform parts of the Traje are dry cleaned to make sure they last.
Students are taught how to care for their uniforms and minor repairs to uniform parts or alterations can be taken care of by the directors. On the instrument side, minor and medium instrument repairs and string replacements can be done by the directors as well. All of this helps to make sure that we are able to include as many students who want to experience this beautiful cultural music. We greatly appreciate any donations that we receive and would love any support that you might be willing to give.
Thank you for thinking about Los Mariachis de la Ciudad Estrella,
Brett Noser and Leila Zila, Co-Directors
