About the Grant

The Todd Francis Creative Research Grants were initiated in 1991 as a memorial to Todd Francis's passion in science, language, and the humanities. Over 80 projects have been funded, involving over 200 students and 27 faculty members.
 

Applying for Funds

Application Open: October 2nd, 2023 - November 13th, 2023

Award Amount: Ranging from $200–$500; multiple grants awarded each year

Criteria: This fund is to be used to enable grade 6-12 students to participate in significant and extended learning activities in the sciences.

Selection Process: Applications will be reviewed by the LPS Science Curriculum Specialist and their designated LPS educator(s), a member of the Francis Family, and the President of the Foundation for LPS. Support will be provided for projects that stimulate creativity, and involve actions that benefit society. Students are encouraged to think about a topic, do preliminary research, and develop a budget. Once submitted, the proposal will be discussed with the student's faculty advisor, who will make any necessary adjustments or suggestions and then be sent on to the selection committee.
