Inspired "Grateful Giving" Creates Opportunities

The "Grateful Giving" lunch is a fun and creative way to give back. For the past two years, Ellen Beans and Jenny Sundberg have hosted an afternoon of friendship, fellowship and fun with women from different generations who gather to nourish themselves and celebrate their blessings - all with the purpose of giving back to their community. The idea to host a lunch with their friends came about organically. According to Ellen "We both appreciate the many blessings in our lives. We want to give to others as a way of expressing how grateful we are. And we invite our friends to join us. Our luncheon is filled with warmth, laughter, and expressions of thanksgiving. It’s uplifting for those that attend … and lifts up those chosen to receive."

How does it work? Each year a local charity is selected and attendees donate the amount of their choice. This year the Foundation for LPS's Homeless Student Fund was selected to raise awareness and dollars toward homeless families in our community. Jenny expresses "It’s important to us to provide families in need with warmth, nourishment and fellowship."

Thank you to these "Grateful" women who made a difference for homeless students and their families in Lincoln - and thank you to those who attended the lunch and gave to this worthy cause.
