Connie Adams taught music for 35 years. Her first teaching position was in Gretna, Nebraska, as a K-12 vocal music teacher. The next two years she taught vocal music in Lincoln, and was the first vocal music teacher at Goodrich Junior High. The next 32 years were spent as a band and strings teacher in Lincoln. Connie loved helping students from the first steps of opening their musical instrument cases to seeing them audition for performing groups. She enjoyed being the co-director of the SOKS Orchestra for 5 years ---a district wide selected string orchestra. She was also a strings specialist for the Lincoln Youth Symphony, the Junior Youth Orchestra, and was on staff of the Suzuki Music Camp held each summer at Wesleyan. She was a long time member of the Lincoln Symphony Orchestra, playing violin for over 20 years.
Connie has been the director of the Serenity Singers, a women's church choir for 25+ years. Connie named the Foundation for Lincoln Public Schools a beneficiary of an annuity. She wished her gift to be divided between unrestricted ---for greatest needs to benefit all students and the Lincoln High School Champions Endowment Fund ---to benefit Lincoln High School forever. Connie said, "I want future LPS students to continue to experience strong instrumental music opportunities." Connie said she can't thank Lincoln High School enough for the experiences given to her. Lincoln High School continues to be a family of support and lasting shared memories.
