Spark Summer Learning

Who Said Summer Learning Can't Be All Fun and Games?

Looking for a high-energy, fun and immersive summer-learning experience for your K-5 student this summer? You're in luck! Spark Summer Learning is a new, 10-week STEAM-based summer learning program with a focus on fun and exploration. Kids will explore science, technology, engineering, art and math (STEAM) through hands-on projects at Adams Elementary, and at partner locations like the Maker Space at Nebraska Innovation Campus, and other exciting locales.

Don’t worry – there's plenty of fun built in with field trips, outside play, and pool time in between all that creative exploration, and our enthusiastic counselors will help bring it all to life. With availability from 7 am to 6 pm, what's there not to love?

They’ll have such a good time, your kids won’t even know they're learning (shhh, don’t spoil the fun).

The Importance of Summer Learning

Learning shouldn’t end when the school year does. Research shows that the summer months can be a time when children experience summer learning loss (often called “summer slide”), falling behind in key areas like reading and math. Summer learning opportunities, like Spark, are critical to the continued academic and personal development of students. Don’t let “summer slide” take its toll! By taking advantage of opportunities to explore new topics and engage with hands-on learning experiences this summer, students can reach their full potential while having a blast.

High-quality summer learning programs have been shown to improve reading and math skills, school attachment, motivation and relationships with adults and peers.

STEAM Curriculum: Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Math

STEAM education provides hands-on, creative ways to encourage students to design, experiment, build and invent. STEAM is fun and engaging, and appeals to all learning styles (and we aren’t the only ones who think so). Even better, STEAM curriculum is based on the way children actually learn. Inspiring and preparing students to meet the challenges of a global society through innovation, collaboration and creative problem-solving is at the heart of the STEAM curriculum.
