Lincoln Southeast High School opened
in 1955 as a junior-senior high school. Southeast became a high school only in 1963
when Pound Junior High opened. There are over 21,000 Southeast
High graduates still carrying on the LSE tradition and former
Knights now live in all 50 states.
The Foundation for Lincoln Public Schools
was established in 1989 to support the Lincoln Public Schools. In those 20
years funds have been raised for programs at Southeast that go
beyond what tax dollars support, programs that enrich students’
learning and enhance the curriculum. In 2009, the Southeast
auditorium was renovated and renamed the Jennifer L. Dorsey-Howley
Performing Arts Center. The renovation was funded by the
2006 LPS bond and donations to the Foundation for Lincoln Public
Schools.
