How Fund-A-Need Works
Fund-A-Need begins with a teacher who wants
to provide her/his classroom with an opportunity that school funds
do not cover. At this Web site, the teacher writes a proposal to
explain the project and submits a budget for the plan.
Teachers do not automatically post their ideas to the electronic
bulletin board. First the Foundation for Lincoln Public Schools
works directly with LPS to verify the teacher's identity, to confirm
the need of the request, and to review the project budget.
Then individuals like you can browse the list of approved grant
proposals and make tax-deductible contributions that fully or partially
fund a proposal.
When a proposal is funded, the Foundation sets up a fund for the
project. The teacher whose proposal has received funding sends
a thank you to the donor. The Foundation sends a receipt to the
donor as a record for the IRS.
Fund-A-Need is a new opportunity for the community to accomplish
good works. Teachers know the needs and submit the proposals, and
every citizen can easily be a philanthropist.
100% of the contributions are used to purchase student supplies,
books and support for this program. These educational experiences
are not available for our students without private contributions. |
