Passport to your National Parks
Fifth grade students at Calvert research the United States National Parks. We would like to give the students a small book titled Passport To Your National Parks to use in conjunction with their research. The passport book is a small book that looks much like a passport but includes more than one hundred pages. The book divides the United States into nine geographic regions. It contains maps, park information and lists of the parks in our nation. It also has places for stamps and canceled stamps. The media specialist, art teacher and fifth grade teachers will work together on this project. Students will create stamps in the computer lab using Photo Shop Elements. Google Earth will be used so students can go on a virtual tour of the park they researched. As students present their research papers, classmates will in essence visit the parks and get their passports stamped.
