C.H.A.M.P.S. Rewards
The sixth grade teams at Dawes Middle School have instituted a program called C.H.A.M.P.S. (Consistently Having Amazing Mighty Positive Skills). This is a result of a three day in-service presented by the Nebraska Department of Education to our staff. One main component of the training was for students to receive tangible rewards for positive behaviors. Our students continue to grow in their positive skills as we focus on C.H.A.M.P.S. The students are completing their assignments to the best of their ability; they are displaying respectful behaviors and giving their best effort every day. We feel our students’ positive behaviors and attitudes have increased their academic success. The teachers would like to reward these students with small prizes of new school supplies (markers, colored pencils, notebooks, etc.). Each week 2 students will be chosen to be the 6th grade C.H.A.M.P.S. Those students then will receive new school supplies. We will have end of the quarter celebrations and more prizes will be awarded at that time. Every quarter the C.H.A.M.P.S. students and their families will be invited to a breakfast prepared by their teachers. We would use the Fund-A-Need money to purchase school supplies for rewards and food for the C.H.A.M.P.S. family breakfast.
