Fund-A-Need Stories
Scholastic News Parent & Child Magazine-Beattie School
Amount funded: $120.00
Children learn a wide range of topics from Scholastic News such as the presidential election,
healthy living, dental health, planting seeds, bugs, seasonal themes and the customs of other
countries. Our discussions led to story writing, writing plays and planting a garden.

Lancaster County Pathfinder Program
Amount Funded: $114.00
A donation to Fund-a-Need allowed students at Lancaster County Youth Services school to purchase yarn and learn crocheting. They made hats and blankets for Friendship Home. Many items were given as gifts to family members. One student completed so many unique and interesting projects, she earned Creative Clothing credit.
More than anything, no one wants to be locked up. Crocheting soothed some of that anxiety, eased their
frustrations, and increased their sense of community. When the needles are working, the entire place is peaceful.
It provided a great opportunity to build positive relationships between students and staff.
